North Aurora is a western suburb of Chicago, located on the Fox River. Although it is a separate suburb from Aurora, most of the activities and entertainment are intertwined between the two towns.

History Top

North Aurora was originally known as Schneider’s Mills, named after German immigrant John Peter Schneider who built a sawmill that established the village’s economic foundation in the 1830s. Railroads began passing through the town in the 1850s and in 1875 an international creamery was established.

The town grew steadily up through the 1960s but still only had a few retailers. The town updated its growth plan twice, and in 1996 Oberweis Dairy relocated to North Aurora, bringing much success.
